Dec 12, 2018 Downloads from Microsoft for power point 2010 I go to Microsoft Office to download the free templates for powerpoint 2010 and when I click on the 'download' tab, I don't get to select where I'd like to save them. How can I download these files so they show up in the remplates that are already in the program? This is my first time ever using. You are talking about downloading a template from Microsoft Office Online. In that case click the templates tab, click all templates, scroll down and click browse templates by product, click PowerPoint. Scroll through the templates, click on the one you want to download, click the download button. A small dialog should appear asking you to save the template, normally it should take you to the correct folder, click save. Once finished the template will appear in PPT, if you want to check in what folder it is, click File - Save as - click on the list arrow next to the file name box and the full path should appear. Should be something like this: C:UsersUsernameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftTemplatesDocument Themes, if another folder is suggested change it so it points to the path mentioned.

The template will appear in the design tab on the ribbon, themes group, custom group.
If you save it in the templates folder in stead of the document themes folder you will have to go to File - New - My templates to select and use it.

To find a template with background images to begin a new presentation, do the following:
Click File > New.
In the search box, do one of the following:
To browse a wide range of templates with backgrounds, search for 'Backgrounds.'
For the background images shown above and more, search for the template called 'Backgrounds for PowerPoint slides.'
For backgrounds specific to a theme, search on a keyword, such as 'mountains.'
Click a template thumbnail, preview the slides by clicking the forward and back arrows, and then click Create when you find the template you want.
Note: You may want to use only a few of the slides from the template in your presentation. To remove the other slides from your presentation, press and hold CTRL, click the slides that you don't want, and then press DELETE.
